We are members of Peoples Democratic Party, but we were directed by Wike to vote for Tinubu- Lloyd.

Former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd, recently discussed Minister Nyesom Wike’s directive to vote for Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, despite their affiliation with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). During an interview with Seun Okinbaloye, Lloyd commented on former Governor Peter Odili’s declaration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the political leader in Rivers State, stating that no constitutional authority empowered Odili to make such a pronouncement.

Lloyd elaborated on the events, noting that while Odili named Fubara as the political leader, he and other stakeholders in Emohua local government reaffirmed their support for Nyesom Wike at the council headquarters. Lloyd highlighted the unique political directive from Wike, their leader, instructing PDP members to vote for APC presidential candidate Tinubu, while maintaining support for PDP candidates in National Assembly positions.

This unprecedented political action, as described by Lloyd, involved PDP members casting votes for Tinubu under Wike’s direction, marking a notable departure from party lines in the 2023 elections. The interview sheds light on complex political dynamics within Rivers State and the decisions made by key figures like Wike and Odili.
