Rivers Leadership Tussle: We Are In April, Rivers State Doesn’t Seem To Have A Budget Yet — Lloyd

A former Rivers State House of Assembly Member and incumbent Local Government Chairman, Hon. Chidi Lloyd, expressed on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television program, that Governor Siminalayi Fubara should resubmit the State’s budget to restore peace.

He emphasized the necessity for the Governor to honor all agreements made at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

Lloyd elaborated that as a local government Chairman, he observes a growing mutual distrust infiltrating the system. He noted instances where instructions are given directly to Local Government Area heads and Treasurers, circumventing the democratically elected Local Government Chairmen.

During an interview on Channels Television, he remarked, “As part of the political resolution orchestrated by the President, it was agreed upon that the budget be resubmitted. Yet, here we are in April, with June looming, and Rivers State still lacks a budget. This disrupts the normal flow of affairs. As a local government Chairman, I witness a growing mutual distrust infiltrating the system. Instructions are issued to Local Government Area heads and Treasurers, bypassing democratically elected Local Government Chairmen. ”
