Sumner Sambo, a political analyst, has stated that the tensions between former Governor Peter Odili and former Governor Nyesom Wike in Rivers State stemmed from a political dispute involving the removal of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In a video recently shared on YouTube by Arise TV, Sambo explained that Felix Obuah, the former PDP State Chairman, called upon Odili to support the removal but he refused. Sambo said Odili expressed his intention to reconcile Wike and Fubara instead of being involved in Fubara’s removal. He said Odili’s refusal to participate in the removal of Fubara as governor of Rivers angered Wike, leading to tensions between the two former governors.
It would be recalled that in a recent interview, Wike confirmed that he and Odili are not on good terms, but Odili remains his leader.
In Sambo’s words: “Now, Odili said he was not going to be part of it and when Felix Obuah was dispatched to Odili, he made it very clear that he was going to call Wike himself because he would rather serve as a reconciliator to reconcile both of them. Odili said he won’t be a party to the removal of Fubara and that angered Wike up till now”.
