Sharing of family land is a crucial part of the Igbo culture.

It has to be done in orderliness to avoid the wrath of the gods.

If a plot of land is to be shared amongst three brothers, and the first son is late, but he has a son already,

His son would stand in the place of his father, and he shall take whatever share is right for his father.

In a case where they have to choose a property, he will choose/take first before his father’s younger brothers,

Even though he is very much younger than all of them.

And nobody dares question or manipulate him,

They shall reverence him as they would if he was their late elder brother.
