It means the world to us, coming here and having to play the series with not much batting experience

Shubman Gill, a Team India batsman, scored an undefeated half-century in the last innings of the fourth Test against England in Ranchi, leading his team to a five-wicket win.

It helped the host team finish the five-game series with one game to spare.
Gill may have played one of the finest knocks of his brief Test career, not just in terms of volume, but also due to the high pressure and demanding conditions.

Gill and Dhruv Jurel formed an unbroken 72-run partnership for the fifth wicket. The right-handed hitter was left at one end when Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Rajat Patidar, and Sarfaraz Khan all fell to spinners in rapid succession.

Gill recounted his talk with Dhruv Jurel in the middle of their match-winning partnership.

He stated that he informed the wicketkeeper-batsman about his exploits in the first innings, when he scored 90 runs while batting with the tail.

Gill further stated that the series triumph is historic, given the hurdles that India faced.

The hosts were missing Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami for the whole series, and KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja suffered injuries midway through.

“You have to see the situation and play accordingly” – Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill was also under criticism for his uneven performances at No.3 in the West Indies and South Africa.

He didn’t start the series well, but he bounced back with a century in Vishakapatnam and a solid 91 in Rajkot. Finally, his undefeated fifty in Ranchi appears to be the most important of the bunch.

Gill discussed how the England bowlers kept things tight, praising the foundation built by Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
