Nobody Is Going to Intimidate You, The Next Step Is Going to Be Fire for Fire in Rivers State-Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, recently clarified the nature of President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the political rift between him and his estranged political mentor, Nyesom Wike, emphasizing that it was political rather than constitutional. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chulwudi, Governor Fubara affirmed his commitment to implementing the eight-point resolution reached during a mediation meeting with Tinubu in Abuja last October, as a gesture of respect for the President.

According to Newsmen, despite facing criticism and renewed threats of impeachment from 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly aligned with ex-governor Nyesom Wike, Governor Fubara maintained his resolve to honour the agreement reached with President Tinubu. The disagreement stemmed from Fubara’s alleged failure to present the 2024 budget afresh to the lawmakers, as stipulated in the resolution.

Governor Fubara clarified that the resolution adopted following President Tinubu’s intervention was a political solution to the crisis and not a constitutional mandate. He reiterated his commitment to upholding the agreement out of respect for the President, while also warning against misconstruing his compliance with the resolution as a sign of weakness.

While addressing a gathering of members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees during a solidarity rally, Governor Fubara underscored the organic support his administration continues to receive from the people of Rivers State. He emphasized his determination to lead with integrity and implement policies that genuinely benefit the populace.

Governor Fubara urged the people to remain steadfast in their support for his administration, assuring them of his commitment to standing by those who uphold righteousness and obey the law. He reiterated his administration’s dedication to fostering good governance and improving the lives of the people of Rivers State. In his address, the Rivers State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees expressed gratitude to Governor Fubara for his support and love for the workers, affirming their solidarity with his administration.

He said, “When you are doing what is right, I will stand by you. Nobody, whether full or half is going to intimidate you. Brace up, I say brace up, because the next step, it will be fire for fire in Rivers State. Everything will be implemented. For our people, the great and wonderful people of Rivers State, we will continue to lead you with the fear of God.”
