Next Step Is Fire For Fire, Fubara Warns

According to Daily Trust, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has issued a stern warning to those who perceive his adherence to the presidential peace pact as a sign of weakness, declaring that he is prepared to surprise them and the next step is fire for fire he warns..

Governor Fubara revealed that he has received numerous comments in the media regarding his implementation of the peace initiative but chose to remain silent out of maturity and wisdom.

However, he emphasized the importance of setting the record straight for clarity.

Governor Fubara gave a justification for his conduct by recalling President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the political crisis that shook the state on October 30, 2023, which led to a political arrangement. He said that his only motivation for carrying out the arrangement was reverence for the president.

“Let me say it here for record purposes: What is happening here in our beautiful state is somebody who has respect for an elder,” Governor Fubara said in response to the criticism of his perceived weakness.

He made it clear that the implementation was a political decision rather than a requirement under the constitution.

“If the step that I have accepted to take would be viewed as a weakness, I will surprise them,” the governor warned, making it clear that his acquiescence should not be interpreted as weakness. I would like them to receive this communication.

During a solidarity rally at the government house gate in Port Harcourt, Fubara addressed members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) from the 23 local government areas of Rivers State.

He emphasised the strong support his administration has received from the state’s populace.
