Let Tinubu Forget About Second Term. He’s Deceiving Himself. North Won’t Vote For Him Again-Adebanjo

Chief Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the Yoruba socio-cultural group Afenifere, advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against seeking reelection due to a perceived lack of support from the North. Speaking to The Sun, Adebanjo urged Tinubu to focus on his legacy, emphasizing the need for constitutional reforms to address the imbalance favoring Northern interests over those of the South.

Adebanjo asserted, “Tinubu should abandon the idea of running for a second term. He is deceiving himself. The North will not support him again because his current actions do not align with their interests.”

He cautioned Tinubu against relying on superficial Northern support and urged him to leave a lasting legacy by spearheading constitutional reforms. Adebanjo warned that failure to address Nigeria’s restructuring could lead to division, highlighting the injustices perpetuated by the current constitution.

Furthermore, Adebanjo reminded Tinubu of their shared struggles and urged him not to forsake his roots. He pointed out Tinubu’s previous success in amending the national Constitution to assume the role of Lagos State governor and advocated for a shift to a parliamentary system, criticizing the corruption associated with the presidential model in Nigeria.
