Fans in the stadium celebrate gleefully following successful DRS reviews on Day 1 of the fourth India-England Test in Ranchi

The fourth Test between India and England began this morning (February 23) at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. The hosts are presently leading the 5-match series 2-1.

England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and chose to bat first on a challenging pitch.

Debutant pacer Akash Deep caused havoc on England’s batting line-up, causing a top-order collapse that gave India a strong start.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja each took one wicket to help the hosts complete a spotless first session, reducing England to 112/5 before lunch on Day 1.

Fans at Ranchi’s stadium liked the fast-paced action provided by Indian bowlers.

They also reacted passionately when the home team received two successful DRS reviews to capture important wickets of Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow.
