Anambra State Govt Intensifies War Against Touting

The Anambra State Government says it has declared total war against the unlawful activities of touts in the State.

The Director of Operations, Anambra State Special Anti-Tout Squad (SASA), Mr. Solomon Onwuemene, disclosed this in his office in Awka, while receiving the Anambra State President General, Joint Transporters Forum, Pastor Elvis Okolie and members of his Executive who paid him a courtesy visit.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Onwuemene made it clear that no amount of pressure from the public would push the agency to compromise in their efforts towards achieving the mandate for Ndi-Anambra in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s agenda of stamping out touting as well as restore sanity in Anambra.

The SASA Director of Operations thanked the Forum for keeping faith with the programmes of the Squad, assuring that they are committed to rendering selfless service to Ndi-Anambra at all times.

Mr. Onwuemene assured that his office is strongly committed to riding touts from the State, and added that the State Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, Chief Chikodi Anara and the Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Security matters, Sir Chukwurah Amaechi, have mandated them to ensure that activities of touts are completely stamped out in line with the Governor’s quest in making the State a livable and prosperous homeland.

In his remarks, the Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Security matters, Sir Chukwurah, reminded the forum that Governor Soludo has given SASA the authority to restore sanity on the streets of Anambra and advised them to be mindful of the activities of the saboteurs who are bent in tarnishing the image of the agency.

Earlier in his address, Pastor Okolie, explained that the Forum was the umbrella body of all registered Associations and Unions of Commercial Transport System in the State with the sole objective to support all government transport policies and Programmes in the State and as well, benefit from the policies and Programmes where necessary.

While congratulating the Governor for keeping the flag of the State flying for two years without borrowing a kobo with massive road construction in every part of the State, the President-General, appealed to the Governor to graciously lift the suspension he placed on the union for a better and prosperous Anambra.
