“Hip hop is is static like in hip hop you have to pretend to be rich, be a gângstãr and it’s all kinda the same thing. I’m not saying this to underrate hip hop or because I want to stop doing hip hop and swap to amapiano, because I love hip hop and I’m the face of African hip hop. But let’s call a spade a spade because music wise, amapiano and afrobeats are better than hip hop.” Nasty C

Hip hop has been here for over 20 years now but the days of real hip hop are long gone. We can’t find that creativity anymore, hip hop is just static. Once an artist puts out a hit record, every other artist either samples it or recycles the lyrics and so everything just sounds the same. But in amapiano and afrobeats, you can always expect something new and different.
