A REPLICATION OF NAMES IN IGBO LAND
AND THE OHUHU-NGWA MOVEMENT
Oral tradition between the Mbaise and Ngwa and detail how they were the same people separated by the Imo river after one group crossed over
Further proof of this relationship has been demonstrated by a concentrated replication of clan names across the divide
Almost every clan in Mbaise has it’s replication in Ngwa and in areas around Mbaise
this shows a gradual movement and settlement of peoples who retained their original clan names…
There is Ekwereazu clan in Obi Ngwa and Ekwereazu clan in ahiazu Mbaise, Ekwereazu in Ezinihitte, Ekwereazu Ogwa Mbaitoli
Obohia is in Mbaise, Obohia in Aba Ngwa, Obohia in Ikwuano, Obohia is a clan in Ndoki.
Alaenyi clan Owerri, alaenyi Ogwa
Uvuru is in Mbaise and Uvuru in Ngwa
Mbutu in Ngwa and Mbutu in Mbaise..
Nguru Mbaise and Nguru Ngwa
A series if Okpuala in Mbaise, Ikeduru, Ngor/Okpala and Ngwa
Itu in Mbaise, Itu in Ngwa,
Onicha is in Mbaise, Onicha is in Ngwa, Onicha is in Ihitte Uboma, Onicha is in Isu-ikwuato and they all lie along the same axis
Mpam is in Egbu Owerri and there is Mpam Owerri in Mbaise
Ohuhu people equally crossed the Imo River to settle North of Ngwa in what makes up Umuahia clans today… thus there is equally a name replication between Ezinihitte Mbaise, Obowo and Umuahia
Nkwoegwu Mbaise, Nkwoegwu Umuahia
Town names such as Obizi, Udo, Umukabia, Uratta, Ibeme, Umuhu and Ibeku also replicates amongst them
.
While towns with the same names may not necessarily be related especially where a name is gotten from a geographical description of the town, towns that are on a similar topography or settlement pattern (e.g Ezi na ihite, Enugwu) will have the same name even when they are not related
However if that’s not the case, when town names reoccurs in successive progression within the same area or areas that are adjacent to each other…it is evidence of a successive migration of a people towards a certain direction as evidenced by their oral traditions.
