The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Olabode George, stated that the party does not want to fire members because a small number of individuals are still living in the past.
He clarified that the party is attempting to bring its members together, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
He claimed that the PDP intends to heal the division caused by the general election of 2023 in order to appease all members who have been wronged.
He addressed the PDP National Executive Council (NEC) meeting that Wike attended while still working in the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
Channels TV reported that George said, “There is a standing committee. They are going to add more members to do a post-mortem analysis.”
“We don’t want to start firing because there are one or two people who are still thinking about the past. The party must move on.”
“It is an issue in the party. It should not be resolved in the marketplace,” the PDP chieftain said, insisting, “We are going to settle our own matters like a family.”
During the 2023 presidential contest, Wike and the PDP leadership had a disagreement. Wike and his G-5 group decided not to work for 2023 PDP presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar in the presidential race.
Due to Wike’s insistence on a Southern candidate, former National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu was removed, causing a rift within the party.
