Thank You America: Netanyahu Thanks US After Aid Bill Passed

According to Sky News, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his gratitude to the US Congress for passing the foreign aid bill that includes $26 billion for Israel. The US House of Representatives held a rare Saturday session to swiftly push through a series of votes, approving $95 billion in foreign aid for Ukraine, Israel, and other US allies.

Netanyahu took to Twitter to express his appreciation, stating, “Thank you friends, thank you America.”

The Israeli Prime Minister has been a long-time ally of the US, and the aid package is seen as a significant demonstration of support from the US Congress.

The aid package for Israel includes provisions for humanitarian relief to people in Gaza and supports Israel in its defense against Iran and its proxies. The package is part of a larger $95 billion foreign aid package, which includes $60.84 billion for addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and $8.12 billion for the Indo-Pacific.

The bill includes several Republican priorities that Democrats have endorsed or at least accepted, such as proposals to seize frozen Russian central bank assets to rebuild Ukraine, impose sanctions on Iran, Russia, China, and criminal organizations that traffic fentanyl, and legislation requiring the China-based owner of the popular video app TikTok to sell its stake within a year or face a ban.

The legislation now proceeds to the Democratic-majority Senate, which is expected to pass the measure next week, sending it to President Joe Biden to sign into law. The aid package is seen as a crucial demonstration of support for US allies facing conflicts from Europe to the Middle East to Asia, and a significant message to the world about the strength of American leadership.
