If it were the children of Netanyahu who got killed, Western leaders would be in Tel Aviv–Akinyemi

According to Vanguard, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of provoking Iran into starting a conflict. In an interview with Arise Television, Akinyemi discussed the rising tensions following an airstrike on the Iranian Embassy in Syria, which Iran attributes to Israel, although Israel has not claimed responsibility.

Akinyemi criticized Netanyahu’s approach to safeguarding Israel, arguing that despite Israel’s nuclear capabilities, Iran possesses sufficient military strength to significantly damage Israel. He believes Netanyahu’s tactics could be endangering Israeli security rather than protecting it.

Further intensifying his critique, Akinyemi suggested a double standard in international reactions to conflicts involving Israel. He pointed out that if personal tragedies struck high-profile Western leaders, the response and support from allies would be overwhelming, contrasting this with the support for Israel regardless of the provocations attributed to its actions. He concluded by highlighting the unconditional backing the U.S. has pledged to Israel should Iran retaliate, underscoring the complex geopolitical dynamics at play.

Akinyemi said, “Now, I ask you, if it were the children of Netanyahu who got killed by Hamas, all Western leaders would be in Tel Aviv by now, commiserating with Netanyahu. Instead, what do we have? The United States saying it will back Israel to the hilt if Iran hits back in retaliation. I mean, if somebody had killed the child of Biden, the United States would have levelled that country by now.”
