The Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Security Matters, Fatai Owoseni has alleged that most of the Yoruba Nation agitators that were apprehended by the Oyo state government are carpenters and bricklayers who have been influenced to undermine the existing system.
He stated that through their interrogation they discovered these individuals had been promised of a better job distribution under the Yoruba Nation’s government. He highlighted that the movement possesses a semblance of organization and collaborative efforts from some sponsors.
He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”From the little interrogation that we have had with them, we have heard some of them saying that there is a proclamation that Yoruba Nation has independence and that our people are not getting jobs from this government.
And that once they take overpower, they will give their people jobs. Some of the Yoruba Nation agitators are Carpenters and bricklayers who have been brainwashed to rundown the system. And in such a kind of movement, there is a little bit of organization. They must have been pulling themselves together and recognizing the fact that there is a proliferation of different armed groups in the country. Some are even under the guise that they are doing private security guards.”
Twenty suspected Yoruba Nation Agitators, on Saturday, have been arrested by Security personnel for their alleged role in the invasion of the Oyo State government secretariat, Agodi in Ibadan, the state capital. The agitators had on Saturday morning invaded the secretariat and took over some parts of the area.
The suspects who were in military camouflaged came heavily armed in an unregistered silver coloured Nissan Urban Caravan bus containing cutlasses, pump action rifles, cartridges, assorted charms, and an Oduduwa Nation agitation flag. They were overpowered and completely suppressed by officers and men of the Oyo state police command.
