Shaibu: ‘Go and ask Osinbanjo, he didn’t go against Buhari, but went against his Godfather’ – Ope Banwo

In a recent interview with TVC News, prominent Attorney at Law and Public Affairs Analyst, Ope Banwo, delved into the intricate political dynamics surrounding the impeachment of Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, for alleged gross misconduct.

Banwo shed light on the underlying motivations and power struggles within the political landscape, drawing parallels with past events and key figures in Nigerian politics.

Banwo emphasized the significance of understanding the complex relationships and ambitions driving political decisions, particularly referencing Vice President Osinbajo’s actions during the last Presidential election. He pointed out that while Osinbajo didn’t directly challenge President Buhari, he confronted his own political godfather, indicating a willingness to pursue his own aspirations despite potential repercussions.

In his words;

“Go and ask Osinbajo, he didn’t go against Buhari, but he went against his own Political godfather, that he knew wants to be the President for many years and he doesn’t have the Political base to do that, he didn’t have the Political power, the aggression or ruthlessness to go after Jagaban, so they crushed him. The same way Ladoja did in his won state but in his own case he was restored”
