There have been reports going about in some circles that Peter Obi and Nasir El-Rufai, who served as governors of Kaduna State in the past, would soon be joining the Social Democratic Party (SDP). These rumours have been circulating for the past few days. In the rumours, it was stated that the two former governors are making preparations to create a coalition in advance of the election in 2027.
A few days ago, Daniel Bwala, a former spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation, aroused responses when he said that Peter Obi and Nasir El-Rufai were planning to transfer to the SDP. It is important to remember that this statement caused a lot of people to react.
After donating a borehole to a ram market in Tike Pantami on Sunday, Peter Obi reportedly stated that, at the moment, what he is concerned about is how Nigeria might improve. This information was reported by the Sahara Reporters.
He said he is “more interested now in Nigeria’s success today than tomorrow.”
In addition to that, he said, “We are always concentrating on the election rather than what Nigerians are going through. My commitment is about Nigerians living in a better society and given a better life.”
Peter Obi also reacted to the recent increase in electricity tariff for Band A consumers, saying that there should be provision to cushion the effect of the hike, especially in poor areas.
He said that everywhere in the world, people who live in Band A areas pay more for electricity while those in rural areas are subsidized.
