PDP Crisis: I did anti-party in support of Peter Obi’s candidacy, and Wike did anti-party in support of President Tinubu’s candidacy — Ononuju

A political strategist and dedicated member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Katch Ononuju, admitted during an interview on This Week, a program on Arise Television, that he engaged in activities against his party’s interests. He disclosed that he supported Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) because the PDP failed to adhere to its constitutional provision for power rotation to the South after eight years of Northern presidency.

Ononuju explained that when the party leadership disregarded this principle, it led to internal strife. Consequently, individuals such as himself and Doyin Okupe spearheaded a youth movement, culminating in the selection of Peter Obi as a presidential candidate. He acknowledged that their actions mirrored those of Atiku, Babangida Aliyu, and Sule Lamido in 2013, 2014, and 2015, which were deemed anti-party.

During an interview on Arise Television, he remarked, “When they refused, that’s where crisis came, that when someone like me Doyin Okupe, we now started the youth movement and we’re able to get the Presidential Candidate in Peter Obi. Of course, yes, we did exactly what people like Atiku, Babangida Aliyu, Sule Lamido did in 2013, 2014, 2015, they did anti-party. So we did anti-party, but I did anti-party in support of Peter Obi’s candidacy, and Wike did anti-party in support of President Tinubu’s candidacy. Now why did the anti-party come, because the members of the party from the North refused to respect that instrument of inclusion, also known as zoning, and that’s why the party has been down.”
