Professor Pat Utomi, a political economist and former Obi-Datti Campaign Council member, has said that the removal of Senator Adams Oshiomhole from the position of APC National Chairman cannot be linked to the current Labour Party chairmanship problem.
He recounted his observations of the circumstances preceding Oshiomhole’s dismissal and called the proceedings undemocratic. He said this, implying that internal problems are not exclusive to the Labour Party and that the PDP has also seen its fair share of difficulties.
In an interview on AIT, he said, ”If you call this a crisis, what will you call how APC removed Adams Oshiomhole as Chairman? I was there completely; I saw every move, and I saw what happened.”
“You can’t consider that democratic in any way, but it happens. This is what people exercise in power just for advantage.”
“Not whether it will make the country better or not. But we need people we trust for this game, so let’s push to have people that we trust. And PDP had its own series of crises around that as well.”
In light of the Labour Party’s leadership issue, Mr. Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate in the last presidential elections, has hinted that he may leave the LP before the 2027 election.
He and his followers, he claimed, are unwilling to fall for the manufactured crisis inside the Labour Party, which is part of a diversionary tactic.
