Julia took Zach to tour prep schools and basketball camps across Canada and the United States. Eventually, Zach graduated high school from IMG Academy in Florida. During the basketball season, Julia spends time near Purdue, where Zach plays, to support him. Glen, Zach’s father, also attends games and shows his support for him.
Julia, not only has she created merchandise for Zach under the nickname “Big Maple,” inspired by his Canadian roots, but she also frequently appears on the Jumbotron at Mackey Arena, where the Boilermakers play. She is well-known for her continuous support of Zach on social media platforms.

During Zach’s freshman year of college, Julia retired from her job as a mechanical engineer. She graduated in 1990 and dedicated 30 years of her career to the nuclear sector in Toronto, where she also spent some time as a nuclear theory teacher.

However, despite spending less time in the United States than Julia, Glen was spotted courtside when Purdue won the Big Ten Championship against Michigan State University in March 2024.
Purdue has embraced Zach’s Canadian heritage, as seen when they played both the United States and Canada’s national anthems before a game against the University of Wisconsin in March 2024. Additionally, the team competed in Toronto against the University of Alabama in December 2023.
