A talented Nigerian artist has paid tribute to the late legendary Nollywood actor, John Okafor, famously known as Mr Ibu, by creating a stunning wall portrait in his honor.

In a video circulating online, the young artist showcased his creative process on TikTok (@bamaiyidanladi), capturing the meticulous touches as he painted Mr Ibu’s portrait on a house wall.

The passing of the 62-year-old veteran actor on March 2, 2024, at Evercare Hospital in Lagos, Nigeria, due to cardiac arrest, saddened the Nollywood industry and fans worldwide.

Family, friends, and admirers mourned Mr Ibu’s death, reflecting on his remarkable career spanning over 40 years and how he left an indelible mark on their childhood memories.

The artist also expressed his condolences by sharing a video of himself working on the portrait, honoring the late actor’s legacy with his artistic tribute.

He captioned the video, “In honor of the legend, Mr. Ibu, I am printing this tribute mural on this wall. A great actor who made our childhood memories fun.”
