“When I Joined Nollywood, Actresses Weren’t Wayward Because You Must Dress Decently” Toyosi Adesanya

Popular Yoruba movie actress Toyosi Adesanya has revealed the kind of behavior and culture she met on the ground when she joined the Nollywood movie industry, while also stating how the bosses in Nollywood used to treat women at the time.

In a video that was posted on the YouTube channel of Oyinmomotv during an interview, she disclosed that when she joined Nollywood, actresses were not wayward because it was part of the rules that they must dress decently in movies and at the location.

In her statement, she said, “Since the time I became a member of the movie industry, my boss Yinka Quadri has always admired me, he used to say that I’m a brilliant girl because I don’t speak Yoruba at that time.

“I was used in a movie role where I acted as an Americana due to my fluent English.

“My parents insisted that I complete my education before going into acting, and my bosses agreed and assured my parents that it wouldn’t disturb my education.

“When I joined Nollywood, actresses weren’t wayward because you must dress decently.”
