Soludo Criticizes Flouting of Anambra State’s Burial Law at Ezeife’s Funeral

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has expressed dissatisfaction over the violation of the state’s burial law during the funeral service of former governor Chukwuemeka Ezeife, held in Awka on Saturday.

Soludo, alongside other dignitaries, attended the ceremony where he observed the disregard for the law enacted in 2019, which prohibits the display of billboards, posters, or banners of deceased individuals.

Addressing the gathering, Soludo lamented the distribution of brochures, considering it a breach of the law.

According to Channels Television, he emphasized that such practices inflate the expenses associated with burials and are contrary to the regulations set forth by the Anambra Burials Law, which predates his tenure as governor.

Governor Soludo asserted that the late Ezeife, fondly referred to as Okwadike, would not have condoned such actions had his opinion been sought. He reiterated the importance of adhering to existing legislation, emphasizing that the law must be respected.
