A top chieftain of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), has strongly condemned the recent threats directed at Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
The APC chieftain, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, labeled such actions as both disorderly and lacking in sensitivity.
In a statement released in Port Harcourt, Eze specifically addressed one of the loyalists of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, known as Bright Amaewhule, the president-general of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), cautioning him and others against disrespecting the esteemed position of the Governor.
Eze emphasized, “Amaewhule’s outburst qualifies him for an invitation from relevant security agencies for questioning,” urging the police to intervene promptly to deter further acts of intimidation.
Expressing disbelief at the audacity of those resorting to threats against a sitting governor, Eze highlighted the legal ramifications of such reckless behavior, emphasizing the rights of citizens and the potential consequences of their actions. He praised Governor Fubara for his peaceful approach but cautioned against mistaking his calm demeanor for weakness, asserting the Governor’s authority to address insubordination decisively.
Eze underscored the awareness of both the Inspector-General of Police and other security agencies regarding the threats, urging them not to remain silent in the face of potential unrest. He stressed, “People should not misunderstand Governor Fubara on the role he has chosen on how to govern the State,”
He also attributed positive changes in the state to Fubara’s leadership while condemning past administrations for their negligence, citing a significant increase in internally generated revenue (IGR) under Fubara’s governance as evidence of progress.
