Following Muhammadu Sanusi’s claims that one of the sharia-compliant governors had embezzled public monies and purchased a Lagos hotel, numerous social media users have voiced their opinions. Sanusi is the fourteenth Emir of Kano.
The claim was made by Emir Sanusi at a virtual Ramadan lecture that took place on Sunday, according to VANGUARD. During his address on “Some Dimensions of the Concept of Ibadah,” the Emir of Kano made the statement that while professing faith in Allah, some individuals engage in corrupt practices, selfishness, and greed.
Some governors, according to Emir Sanusi, pretended to be spearheading the application of Sharia law while, in reality, they stole funds and bought hotels.
The Emir was quoted as saying;
“We have had some state governors who said they were practising sharia, they were leading the implementation of sharia and they were stealing money and buying hotels. There was a governor implementing sharia in a sharia state who stole public funds and bought a hotel in Lagos”.
