Palm Sunday, also referred to as Passion Sunday, holds significant importance in the Christian calendar as it marks the commencement of Holy Week, the most sacred period for Christian communities worldwide. Observed on the Sunday before Easter Sunday, Palm Sunday’s date varies annually, contingent upon the date of Easter. This year, Palm Sunday will be observed on March 24.

Palm Sunday holds profound historical and religious significance within Christianity. It commemorates the event recounted in the four Gospels of the New Testament, where Jesus Christ made his triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Riding on a donkey, Jesus was greeted by crowds of people who enthusiastically waved palm branches and laid them on the road before him.

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, the most sacred and solemn period in the Christian calendar. It sets the stage for the events leading to Jesus’ arrest on Holy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday, followed by his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
