Philip Shaibu was born in Kaduna on December 1, 1969 (age 54). He was born into a strong Christian family. The name of the father is the late Pastor Francis Osikpomobo Shaibu, while his mother was Lucy Momoh. He attended his primary school education at St. Augustine Primary School, Tundu Wada Kaduna, but finished at L.E.A. Primary School, Barnawa, Kaduna State, where he also obtained his First School Leaving Certificate.

He attended his secondary school education at Saudana Memorial Secondary School, Kawo, Kaduna State, in 1989. He later attended his university education at University of Jos and recived  Bachelor of Science degree (Honours) in Accounting in the year 2000.

Philip Shaibu Political career

Philip Shaibu started his career working for the Nigerian Prisons Service in Abuja. But in 2002, he retired from that job as an assistant inspector of prisons to focus on politics.

In 2003, he tried to become a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, but he lost the election while running with the All Nigerian People Party.

In 2007, Shaibu tried again and this time he won! He represented the people of Etsako West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly under the Action Congress party. He also became a member of the House of Representatives for Etsako Federal Constituency in 2015.

Later, he teamed up with Governor Godwin Obaseki as his running mate in the 2016 Edo State Gubernatorial election. They won, and since then, Shaibu has been the Deputy Governor of Edo State.
