In a significant development, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) successfully foiled an attempt to distribute counterfeit cash worth N3.2 million after arresting three suspects, including a pregnant woman. The trio – 24-year-old Favour Peter, who is eight months pregnant, Esther Adukwu, 27, and Ochigbo Michael, 39 – were apprehended while traveling on a commercial bus.
Acting on a tip-off, NDLEA operatives intercepted the bus and discovered the counterfeit currency in the suspects’ possession. The illicit operation raises questions about the motives behind the scheme and the potential harm that could have been inflicted on unsuspecting victims.
