Professional Career
Miikka Sakari Kiprusoff’s nickname is “Kipper” who is a retired professional ice hockey goaltender in the National Hockey League. He represented the San Jose Sharks and Calgary Flames for more than 13 years between 2000 to 2013.
As we mentioned, Miikka was selected in the fifth round, 116th overall, by the Sharks in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, and has also played professionally for TPS of the Finnish SM-liiga, also for both AIK IF and Timra IK of the Swedish Elitserien.
On the international level, he represented Finland multiple times and he got silver medals in 1999 and 2001. In 2004, he led the Finns to a surprise second-place finish at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey.
In 2010, he put lots of effort into the Finnish national team winning the bronze medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
In 1994, Miikka started his professional Ice hockey career with TPS and got the name as the best goaltender and best player of the playoffs in 1999 as he led them to the SM-liiga championship.
A turning point came when he decided to move to North America in 1999 and played two American Hockey League (AHL) seasons.

Kiprusoff joined the Calgary Flames in 2003–04 through a trade. This put him in the main goalie position. He made history by having the lowest goals-against average (GAA) in the NHL at 1.69.
He played a big role in helping the Flames get to the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals. In 2006, he won the Vezina Trophy for being the best goalie in the NHL.
He also got the William M. Jennings Trophy for letting in the fewest goals in the League. In 2007, he played in his first NHL All-Star Game.
By the time he turned 27, he had already won more than 300 games. He holds the record for the most wins and shutouts for the Flames.
