Ezra Mam was born into a family of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent from Far North Queensland. He was born to Tomasina Mam (mother) and Mukubi Mam (father).

Tomasina lives on Hammond (Keriri) Island, which is not far from Thursday Island in the Torres Strait, located in northern Australia. She took a small boat called a dinghy to get to Thursday Island. From there, she traveled by ferry to Horn Island. Then, she hopped on flights to Cairns, Brisbane, and finally Sydney. Her journey ended at Accor Stadium on Sunday.

Mukubi wears a traditional Torres Strait Islander headdress that covers Mam’s left thigh. He puts it on when he performs with an Indigenous dance group that was started by his grandparents. One time, he danced during half-time at a game between the Storm and Broncos, which was part of the Indigenous Round.

Ezra Mam was born on January 31, 2003, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He is twenty-one years old as of 2024 and belongs to a family of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent from Far North Queensland.

At an early age, he moved to Queensland and was raised in Ipswich playing his junior rugby league for the Goodna Eagles. He completed his college at Ambrose Treacy College in Brisbane’s western suburbs playing rugby union for their 1st XV team.

When he turned 13, a turning point came into his life when he accepted an offer to take part in Brisbane Broncos’ development system.

Professional Career

Mam had an impressive start in the 2021 Intrust Super Cup season, winning the Rookie of the Year award while playing for Souths Logan Magpies.

He finished the season with 13 tries, 8 assists for tries, and 7 goals in just 11 games. Mam then made his debut in the first grade for Brisbane during the 2022 NRL season.

Playing against Newcastle in round 11 and helping his team win 36–12 by setting up two tries. In round 12, Mam scored his first NRL try in a 35–24 victory over the Gold Coast Titans.

Throughout the year, Mam played a total of 13 games for Brisbane and scored six tries. Despite their efforts, Brisbane finished the 2022 season in 9th place.

In round 2 of the NRL season, Mam scored two tries in Brisbane’s 28–16 win against their arch-rivals, North Queensland. However, in round 8, Mam received a sin bin penalty for a hip drop tackle on Parramatta’s Matt Doorey during Brisbane’s 26–16 victory.

Then, in round 22, Mam scored two tries again in Brisbane’s 32-10 win over the Sydney Roosters. Throughout the 2023 NRL season, Mam played 25 games for Brisbane and scored 18 tries, which was the highest for a five-eight in a single season.

In the 2023 NRL Grand Final, Brisbane faced Penrith and lost 26-24, despite Mam’s second-half hat-trick. Moving on to the 2024 NRL season, in round 5, Mam scored two tries for Brisbane in their 34-32 loss against Melbourne.
