College Basketball Career

Dalton Knecht started his career as a college basketball athlete at Northeastern Junior College. Between his senior year of high school and his first season with the Plainsmen, Knecht experienced a growth spurt, adding another two inches to his height. As a freshman, he averaged 13.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.

By his sophomore year, his stats improved significantly, with averages of 23.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. During his time at Northeastern Junior College, Knecht grew another three inches, reaching a height of 6’6″. He then transferred to Northern Colorado to continue his college basketball career.

In his debut season with the Northern Colorado Bears, Knecht averaged 8.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. However, in his senior year, he emerged as a standout player, leading the Big Sky Conference with an impressive 20.2 points per game while also averaging 7.2 rebounds per game.

Following this outstanding season, Knecht decided to take advantage of the extra year of eligibility offered to college athletes who competed in the 2020-2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Subsequently, he entered the NCAA transfer portal to explore new opportunities for his college basketball career.

Transfer

Knecht truly showcased his basketball prowess, leading the Big Sky Conference with an impressive average of 20.2 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game.

After this successful season, he capitalized on the extra year of eligibility offered due to the disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic in the 2020 season. Subsequently, Knecht entered the NCAA transfer portal and made a significant move to Tennessee.

Wearing the No. 3 jersey, Knecht made a memorable debut with the Volunteers. His outstanding performance in the season opener against Tennessee Tech, where he scored 17 points, and the subsequent road victory over Wisconsin, with 24 points and five rebounds.

These points earned him recognition as the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Week for the first week of the season.

Dalton Knecht continues to stand out as a dynamic basketball talent, consistently showcasing his skills and making noteworthy contributions to his teams throughout his collegiate career.
