MainOne Records Progress in Restoring Services After Undersea Cable Cut

MainOne, a leading provider of telecom services and network solutions, has made significant strides in restoring services for a portion of its clientele following disruptions to its undersea cable network.

In a recent communication issued on Saturday evening, MainOne disclosed its proactive efforts to bring its operations back online, leveraging additional capacities on alternative cable systems.

The company’s strategic approach aims to ensure a swift restoration of services for the remaining affected customers, reaffirming its commitment to reliability and customer satisfaction.

“We have restored services to some customers and are actively working on restoring services to others via capacity acquired on available cable systems,” MainOne stated.

The estimated repair time is for our submarine cable fault to be fixed, to enable our services to become fully restored, and to independently supply capacity to our customers.”

The disruptions to MainOne’s undersea cable network on Thursday led to a significant degradation of data services in Nigeria and several countries in the West African sub-region.

MainOne, known for providing connectivity and hybrid cloud solutions to a wide range of clientele, including ISPs, government agencies, enterprises, and educational institutions, has been actively addressing the aftermath of the cable disruption.

The service provider has revealed its maintenance agreement with the Atlantic Cable Maintenance and Repair Agreement to facilitate repair services for its damaged submarine cable. However, the repair process may take up to five weeks to complete.

Given MainOne’s critical role in supporting banking operations, major financial institutions are exploring alternative solutions to ensure uninterrupted banking activities amidst the service disruption.
