Israeli war cabinet meets under pressure to respond to Iranian attack

There is a lot of pressure on the Israeli war cabinet from the wider cabinet.

There is intense pressure from the right-wing members of Netanyahu’s government, known ultra-nationalists like Itamar Ben-Gvir, the national security minister, and Bezalel Smotrich, the country’s finance minister. They both want to see an intense response to the Iranian attack.

But the war cabinet meeting comes after Netanyahu spoke to the US president and Yoav Gallant spoke with his US counterpart.

So there are a lot of moving parts. Some reports are indicating that those conversations with the US officials are going to sway the Israelis not to respond.

But there are still a lot of things that are up in the air as the war cabinet convenes this afternoon.
