Disturbed by the large number of abandoned corpses in its morgue, the authorities of the Imo Specialist Hospital, Umuguma, Owerri, have given the owners three weeks to claim them or they get a mass burial.
Though the exact number of the corpses was not revealed, the notice however started from the date of the announcement.
Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Kaunda Ibebuike, in a statement yesterday, asked those whose relatives are missing to check them out in the hospital’s mortuary within the period.
He stressed that if the corpses are not claimed in three weeks’ time, the management would have no other option than to have a mass burial.
“The public are by the notice advised to go and remove their loved ones abandoned at the morgue.
“Others who are in search of missing relations, should as well check the morgue before the end of the three weeks timeline slated for the mass burial,” the statement said.
