I Was Told To Pay For The Services Of The Haircut To A Local Barber, I Refused And We Fought, David

In a report by Kwamkwam news, a youth identified as Titus Durkwa David recounted how he was allegedly brutalized and detained by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Borno State for wearing an Afro. David said that he was told to pay for the services of the haircut from a local barber; he refused, and they fought.

According to David, he was approached by a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) at Mala-Kachalla Roundabout, who accused him of looking like a criminal due to his afro haircut and instructed him to meet their commander. Despite challenging the accusation respectfully, David was forcibly taken to see the commander, who demanded his identity and ordered his hair to be shaved. Despite remaining composed, David was physically assaulted by approximately ten CJTF members, who forcibly shaved his hair.

David shared a picture of how he looked after his hair was shaved by the security officers. He said he was told to pay for the services, which led to another fight, and he was detained. In his words, “I was told to pay for the services of the haircut to a local barber (Mai Wanzam); I refused, and we fought again, leading them to hold me in their custody for about an hour.”
