Madagali was before the arrival of the Fulani Islamic invaders /slave traders, a Marghi community, name for the spear (gali) of a Margi warrior named Margu.

After the arrival of Fulani Islamic invaders, Jihed leader Hamman Yaji was the person that invaded and destroyed the indigenous Marghi people which led to the spread of the people to different areas around Madagali.
Languages of Madagali: Marghi, Fulani, Sukur, Maffa, Matakam etc.

GEOGRAPHY: Madagali is situated at 10.89° North latitude, 13.63° East longitude and 506 meters elevation above the sea level. The Population of Madagali is estimated at 12,919 persons according to 2006 census.
Madagali or Madagli is a town and local government area in Adamawa State, Nigeria , adjacent to the border with Cameroon. The LGA was created in 1991 when Taraba State was created out of Gongola State. It borders Michika to the north, Askira uba to the west, Gwoza local government area to the south and the Republic of Cameroon to the east. There are many ethnic groups but Marghi , Maffa and Fulani are the major ethnic languages. The major villages in Madagali are Gulak and Shuwa. Madagali is richly blessed with fertile land which makes the people to heavily engage in Agricultural activities.
