On 8th April, 2024 the newly appointed Deputy Governor of Edo State, Marvellous Omobayo while speaking after he was sworn in on Monday by the Chief Judge, Daniel Okungbowa as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, following the impeachment of the former Deputy Governor of Edo, Philip Shaibu by the members of the Edo State House of Assembly revealed that from the discussion he had with Governor Godwin Obaseki, he was determined to finish his second term very strong.
According to Vanguard, the newly appointed Deputy Governor of Edo State, Marvellous Omobayo said “After all the very painful and thought-provoking distractions of the past few months, our governor is determined to finish his second term very strong. From his dialogue with me, it is clear that he is very determined to bequeath a legacy of peace, unity, progress and visible development to Edo State. A legacy that the next PDP regime will find exciting to proudly build upon and maintain the leadership position Edo has achieved over time in the comity of states in Nigeria.”
Marvellous Omobayo added that the oath of office he had just taken was his legal acceptance speech and it defines the legal limits that he could or could not exceed while in office. He also expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for their support and encouragement towards him.
