Palmer starred as Chelsea thrashed Everton 6-0 to keep the pressure on West Ham.

The midfielder scored a perfect hat-trick in the first half, curling in a low finish into before heading in his second shortly after.

He earned the match ball with a gift from Pickford after he intercepted a pass and chipped the goalkeeper from just outside the centre circle.

Jackson made sure they finished the first half on a high, volleying in another just before the break.

The Blues, who created an xG of 2.96 compared to Everton’s 1.41 in the game, made a slower start to the second half, but Palmer got his fourth from the spot with a composed finish just after the hour mark.

Gilchrist then came off the bench to drill in his first goal for the club in the 90th minute. Chelsea stay ninth, but are now just three points behind Newcastle United in sixth place.

They now turn their attention to their FA Cup final against Manchester City on Sunday.

Everton stay two points above the drop zone, but their goal difference has taken a significant hit. It’s a huge game for them at the weekend as they host Nottingham Forest.
