In a recent briefing highlighted by The SUN, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the coordinator of Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Support Groups in Lagos State, provided insight into the dynamics between Philip Shaibu and Godwin Obaseki.

In response to queries regarding his stance on Governor Obaseki’s involvement in the removal of his deputy, Dr. Pearse reiterated that it was not the governor but rather the Edo State House of Assembly that initiated the action. He proceeded to elucidate on the contentious relationship between Shaibu and the state administration, particularly during the preceding gubernatorial primary election. Dr. Pearse underscored Shaibu’s propensity for conflict, citing instances where he allegedly exacerbated tensions within the state and pursued legal recourse against the administration.

In his words, he said: “Like I said earlier, Obaseki did not remove Shaibu but the state House of Assembly did. Let me tell you; during the last governorship primary election in Edo State, Shaibu created a lot of frictions in the state. It was just too much.”
