Oriental brothers international band:
Albert Chukwukere, Godwin Opara, and Ferdinand “Nwoye” Opara created Oriental Brothers International, a Nigerian highlife group, in the early 1970s.
The band was well-known for its distinctive highlife sound, which combined contemporary instruments with traditional Igbo music, and it came from southeast Nigeria.
The group’s infectious melodies, socially aware lyrics about love, unity, and cultural identity, and harmonized vocals defined their sound. Some of the hit songs that Oriental Brothers International published are “Onyeoma Tochukwu Nna,” “Iheoma Jigidem,” “Nwanne Awu Enyi,” and “Osuala Oru Enene.”
After Ferdinand Opara passed away in the middle of the 1980s, the band broke up, but highlife music lovers in Nigeria and beyond continued to enjoy their music. One is still the Oriental Brothers International.
