Abductions: Direct relocation of service chiefs to Borno, Kaduna – Adeyanju urges Tinubu
In the wake of a shocking spate of abductions and a violent attack on a mosque, human rights lawyer and leader of the Concerned Nigerians group, Comrade Deji Adeyanju, has urged President Bola Tinubu to order the nation’s Service Chiefs to set up camp in Kaduna and Borno states.
This order is intended to ensure that the approximately 800 children and women kidnapped by bandits in the past week are safely recovered.
Yesterday’s mosque invasion in Kaduna, which led to heartbreaking casualties, was the latest grim episode in a series of escalating attacks that have terrorized communities and drawn national outrage.
In a statement on Saturday, Adeyanju said: “The abduction of about 800 children and women is a heinous crime that is completely unacceptable.
“It is a tragic reminder of the worsening security situation in Nigeria, particularly in the northern part of the country.”
He called for a bold show of leadership from the President to reassure the nation.
“It is our firm belief that the presence of the Service Chiefs in Kaduna and Borno will demonstrate the government’s commitment to the safety and security of its citizens,” he stated.
Not only did Adeyanju advocate for the Service Chiefs to be physically present in the affected areas, but he also suggested they should not return to the capital, Abuja, until there is significant progress in the rescue efforts.
“This measure will ensure that the situation receives the utmost attention and resources required for a swift resolution,” he explained.
Acknowledging the complex nature of the fight against terrorism and insecurity, Adeyanju emphasized the vital importance of the government’s role in safeguarding its people
He called upon President Tinubu to act swiftly, deploying all necessary resources to secure the safe release of the abducted students and women and to restore peace and security in the afflicted regions.
