According to Green, the Boston Celtics are a championship-or-bust club, based purely on the roster’s composition and performance.
The Celtics are coming off a 52-point victory against the Golden State Warriors, the franchise’s third-largest win margin by point difference.
With the victory, many believe they have a chance to win the championship this season. After all, their stars are at the peak of their careers, making it an ideal time for them to compete for a crown.
Green, who faced them in the 2022 playoffs, feels that the Celtics must win the championship this season.
Despite being their rival, the Warriors forward stated that the present squad would not stay long since the wage cap will be one of their toughest challenges in keeping everyone together.
Green noted that Jaylen Brown’s five-year, $304 million supermax deal extension will begin next season.
Jayson Tatum may possibly earn a comparable salary, considering his superior performance.
Tatum might be granted an extension after the 2024-25 season, as many believe he will not exercise his player option.
Aside from the two studs, the Celtics will want to retain Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.
Holiday may opt out of his player option this summer and become a free agent, allowing the Celtics to make him a new offer.
Porzingis will be a free agent this summer after exercising his player option last summer.
