It turns out that checking whether the owner of the premises is not spying on us or recording us is not difficult at all. You don’t need any special equipment for this. All you need is… a flashlight. It may even be the one on your smartphone.

Hutchins advises pointing a flashlight at places where a camera could potentially be hidden. Most often, these are fire alarms, electronic watches or motion sensors.

“If you hit a camera lens with a strong beam of light, you will get a bluish reflection,” explains the expert.

How to tell if someone is spying on you in the changing room or toilet?

We can be spied on not only in hotel rooms. Many people are afraid that someone may look at them in the store fitting room or toilet. You can check it with a flashlight, but there is another method. It allows us to detect whether we are dealing with a one-way mirror. This is the so-called finger test.

What is it about? Just place your nail on the mirror surface. There should be a gap between the nail and the reflection. If it’s not there, it means you’re probably standing in front of a one-way mirror and someone on the other side may be spying on you.
